St James businessman Shifu Huang has been fined five million dollars or eight months imprisonment at hard labour for unlicensed use of trademark.

He was convicted of the offence and sentenced when he appeared in the St. James Parish Court on Monday, May 28.

During sentencing, he was warned by the judge to desist from illicit trading which can result in him ending up in prison if he should return to the court.

The businessman was first arrested on December, 2016 after a police team from the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime executed a warrant and searched two premises where counterfeit items were displayed for sale.

He was again arrested for the same offence in April 2017.
