Tourism strategist Delano Seiveright racks up almost $9M in travel expenses

The Public Administration and Appropriations Committee of Parliament (PAAC) this morning descended into an uproar after the chairman revealed that Senior Strategist in the Ministry of Tourism Delano Seiveright racked up almost $9 million in travel expenses in over a year.

A shouting match between committee members unfolded as Government Members of Parliament accuse their Opposition counterpart of playing politics.

As tempers flared during the committee meeting, chairman Wykeham McNeill called for a recess.

Information received by PAAC from the Tourism Ministry indicated that Seiveright’s travel expenses, both locally and overseas, between April 2016 and March 2017 was $2,461,627.20.

Between April 2017 and March 2018, he racked up $4,452,700.70 in travel expenses.

As of April 2018 to present, his travel expenses amounted to $2,055,549.50.

June 5 - 10, 2017: New York

During this morning's sitting of the Public Administration and Appropriations Committee, government members on the committee attempted to shut down discussions on the travel bill.

But member Fitz Jackson said he would not be deterred.

His collegaue, Leslie Campbell, said he was only seeing the information this morning forcing committee chair Dr Wykehan McNeill to defend interrogation of the issue telling members that the current information was the latest in the discussions which started last week.

McNeill stressed that it was not a new issue, but also said even if the issue was new, it was of national concern.
