The National Works Agency (NWA) says it has closed a section of the Little London roadway in Westmoreland.

The NWA said the roadway, in the vicinity of the Little London Seventh Day Adventist Church, will be closed to vehicular traffic up to 2:00 p.m today.

NWA’s community relations officer for the western region, Janel Ricketts, says the closure is necessary to facilitate the placement of culverts across two sections of the roadway.

Ricketts is advising motorists to use the alternate route through Delveland.

The works form part of efforts to rehabilitate the stretch of roadway between Little London and Grange Hill. This project, which is being done under the Major Infrastructure Development Programme (MIDP) at a cost of approximately $88 million, involves significant drainage improvement, the reshaping and resurfacing of the roadway and the construction of sidewalks.

Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signs and instructions of flag persons.
