Emergency repairs underway for damaged traffic signals at Knutsford Bvld, Trafalgar Rd intersection
The National Works Agency (NWA) says emergency repairs to damaged traffic signals at the Knutsford Boulevard and Trafalgar Road intersection in St Andrew are expected to be completed by Friday.
Acting NWA Communication Manager Ramona Lawson says the repairs, which began yesterday, involve the removal of all four signal heads, the rewiring of the intersection, the replacement of cables and controller box and various excavations.
The traffic signals malfunctioned last Wednesday after a fire, believed to be started by a vagrant, destroyed vital equipment.
The NWA says the repair works cost just over $3 million dollars.
Motorists are being urged to treat the intersection as a three-way stop during the period of the repair.
