Water restrictions in sections of St Mary due to drought

Published:Wednesday | July 18, 2018 | 4:59 PM

The National Water Commission (NWC) is reporting that it has been forced to reduce the operating hours at its Hunts Town and Sand Hill plants in St Mary because of worsening drought conditions.

The NWC says based on the low inflows at the Hunts Town facility water will be supplied to the following areas on a scheduled basis.

Top End and Dressike: on Wednesdays and Thursdays
Hunts Town and surroundings: on Fridays and Saturdays
Wellington and Ramble: on Mondays and Tuesdays

Additionally, customers served by the Sand Hills facility will experience a reduction in water supply to approximately eight hours per day mainly between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

This will affect the community of Sand Hill and its environs.

The NWC is assuring that every effort is being made to ensure the most reliable supply is provided to customers.
