The security forces are advising persons who are participating in the bird hunting season and who intend to hunt within the St. James and the St. Catherine North Police Divisions, where states of public emergency have been imposed, that while there are no restrictions to their hunting licence, they must expect increased scrutiny and checks to ensure full compliance with the law.

The season opens tomorrow on Saturday, August 18 and closes on Sunday, September 23.

Hunters are advised to have their documents ready for inspection and to cooperate fully with members of the security forces.

All bird hunters islandwide are reminded that they must carry their firearms in the appropriate cases while they are being transported and that the weapons must not be unnecessarily exposed.

The security forces are collaborating with the National Environment and Planning Agency to ensure full compliance with the law and to safeguard the interest of the hunters and the environment.
