JCF says threat level against cops remains high, condemns murder of policeman in Westmoreland
The Police High Command is reminding members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) that the threat level against police personnel remains high and is urging cops to be vigilant and to take swift and decisive action to protect themselves and their families.
The reminder came as the high command condemned last night's the murder of 41-year-old police constable Rohan Bucknor at a barbershop in Petersfield, Westmoreland.
Bucknor, who was attached to the Little London Police Station in the parish, was shot multiple times.
The high command, in a statement this afternoon, said that it remains concerned that attacks against members are committed by criminals when cops are off duty in vulnerable situations.
It has pledged to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
Anyone with information that can assist investigators is being asked to contact the Westmoreland Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) at 955-2758 Police 119 Emergency Number, Crime Stop at 311 or the nearest Police Station.
