Former Mexican President to headline Jamaica ganja confab
Former President of Mexico, Vincente Fox, is the headline speaker for the CanEx Business Conference and Expo at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St James this month end.
According to the centre-right former President, “The cannabis industry offers tremendous economic, health and social benefits in Mexico and around the world. I welcome the opportunity to share, network and advocate for its continued progress at CanEx Jamaica.”
The conference, which is scheduled to run from September 26 to 29 is an annual business-to-business event that brings together cannabis industry experts from the United States, Canada, South and Central America, Europe, and other regions.
“We are in our third year and this represents a major opportunity to build lasting, strategic relationships with high-powered global, regional and local cannabis experts, researchers, business professionals, and policymakers. The conference is open to all as long as they register at www.canexjamaica.com,” said Douglas Gordon, the lead conference organiser.
Prominent cannabis law reformer, Delano Seiveright added: “President Fox is a strong supporter of ganja law reform and in 2016 co-signed a letter to then United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon calling for more humane drug policy and is strong in his views for legalisation. We are excited to have him here.”
Seiveright, who also serves as an advisor/strategist in the Government and is on the boards of directors of JAMPRO, the Cannabis Licensing Authority and other agencies, further stated, "We have come quite away since legislative reforms in 2015 but we are no doubt still lagging."
