The National Water Commission (NWC) says vandals have stolen and damaged electrical equipment at its Glenmore Road booster station in Kingston, forcing a disruption in the water supply.

"This wanton disregard for the company’s facility has resulted in the disruption of water supply to a number of communities that are being served by facility," the NWC said in a statement issued today. "In the interim, water is being trucked to the affected areas," it added.

In the meantime, the NWC says it has been forced to disrupt the water supply to areas served by the 21-inch Constant Spring transmission network as a result of a pipeline break in the vicinity of Red Hills Road and White Hall Avenue in St Andrew.

Areas affected include: Valentine Garden, Red Hills Road, Molynes Road, Constant Spring Road, Havendale, Half-Way Tree, White Hall Gardens, Eastwood Park Gardens, Hughenden, White Hall Gardens, Hughenden, Cross Roads, Manning’s Hill Road, Red Hills Road, Arlene Gardens, Roehampton, Calabar Mews, Zaidie Gardens, State Gardens and Washington Boulevard.

The NWC says it is working to have regular service restored by 5:00 p.m. today.
