The Court Management Services in the Ministry of Justice says it has been given clearance to reopen the Supreme Court building in downtown Kingston.

The building was ordered closed arising from a security issue this morning.

This affected the ceremonial opening of the Michaelmas Term of the Home Circuit Court.

The agency told The Gleaner that court will resume at 2 o' clock this afternoon and that all matters will proceed as scheduled.

All persons who were scheduled to be before the court today, including accused persons who are on bail, should return for court at 2:00 p.m.

Today's incident is the third security issue at one of the island’s courts in recent weeks.

Operations at the St Kingston and Andrew and Trelawny parish courts were disrupted recently because of security issues.
