Body discovered in Yallahs Pond identified, case being treated as a homicide

Police investigators in St Thomas are treating the case of the body of the woman that was found in the Yallahs Pond this morning as a homicide.

According to the police, the body has injuries to the back to the head, leading investigators to believe that she was murdered.

The deceased has been identified as 59-year-old Melona Drysdale of Duhaney Pen in the parish.

Drysdale was employed to the Linval Gas Plant in Rozelle.

The police say that about 7:12 they received a call from a resident who said that he saw what appeared to be a body floating in the pond.

The body was fished from the water by fishermen in the area and the police later arrived on the scene.

According to reports, Drysdale left her home for church yesterday morning and never returned.

Family members, who identified her body, say they were on their way to file a missing person report with the police this morning when they received the call about the discovery.
