Senior Superintendent of Police Anthony Castelle has been found guilty in the St James Parish Court.

Castelle was this afternoon convicted on the charges of unlawful wounding and misconduct in a public office.

The charges arose from an incident on January 22, 2016, in which a pregnant woman was shot.

It was reported that the victim, Janice Hines, was a passenger in a taxi that was travelling in Montego Bay when the driver was signalled to stop.

The driver reportedly disobeyed and sped off.

The police chased the car along the Mount Salem main road, during which shots were fired and Hines, who was pregnant at the time, was hit and sustained injuries.

She was later taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where she was admitted.
