The Chaplaincy Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force has been instructed to remain on the ground in Islington, St Mary to offer support to those affected by an incident at the Islington Police Station on Sunday, December 9.

The Community Safety and Security Branch will also give support.

Detectives are expected to continue interviewing witnesses and follow other evidentiary leads as they try to ascertain the circumstances that led to the deaths of a policeman and a woman.

Meanwhile, the identity of the policeman has been confirmed as 25-year-old Toyan Ormbsy of Sandside in Port Maria, St Mary, who was a district constable assigned to the St Mary Division.

Detectives have so far established that the woman went to the Islington Police Station about 1:40 p.m. to visit a prisoner and was seen outside having a conversation with the deceased.

Shortly after, explosions were heard and both were seen with gunshot wounds.

Ormbsy and the woman, who was identified as 62-year-old Dawnette Maxwell, were taken to hospital for treatment, however, they succumbed to their injuries.
