The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) is reporting that it repaired 6,235 streetlights in the past two months, exceeding its target for the final quarter of 2018.

With a target of 2,000 streetlights per month, JPS said it repaired 2,544 lamps in October and another 3,691 in November, surpassing the target of 6,000 lights for the period.

The company said it has fixed over 10,000 streetlights since the beginning of 2018 as well as converted over 5,000 lamps to LED smart streetlights.

“While the vast majority of streetlights across the island are in working order, JPS understands that customers are eager to have the non-functioning streetlights in their communities fixed. The company is, therefore, assuring customers that it is continuing its escalated repair drive to ensure that as many customers as possible enjoy a bright Christmas,” a JPS statement said.
