Customer wins $1 million worth of groceries
One happy customer is having a great start to the New Year as leading global payments and technology company Mastercard teamed up with supermarket chain Progressive Grocers of Jamaica to give away $1,000,000.
The competition, which ran from November 12 through December 31 as part of Mastercard’s year-end promotion, required cardholders to make a purchase greater than $5,000 at any participating supermarket with their Mastercard prepaid or credit card, giving them the chance to enter the grocery promotion.
“I was thrilled when I got the call and heard that I won the promotion. This has made my year. I am over the moon. Thank you Mastercard. Thank you Progressive,” said the winner, who is from St Catherine and who said that she entered the competition during one of her routine trips to the Shoppers Fair, Greater Portmore, store.
Mastercard’s Country Manager for Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti, and Bermuda Uhriel Bedoya said that Mastercard, through its electronic payments, was transforming the consumer experience.
“Mastercard continues to enhance the value of electronic payments for merchants and cardholders.
“For merchants, the value of electronic payment acceptance includes guaranteed payment, increased sales, fraud protection, operating efficiencies, and the safety of not handling cash. For consumers, we offer safe and convenient payment options.
“Our partnership with Progressive Grocers is a concrete example of how Mastercard wants to help retailers and cardholders see the benefits of embracing a faster and simpler way to pay,” said Bedoya. Sagicor Bank Loyalty and Retention Manager, Payments Unit, Tamara Waul-Douglas said that she was delighted to know that the winner of the promotion was also an active Sagicor Bank Mastercard cardholder.
“At Sagicor Bank, we are committed to offering our customers convenient payment solutions in an increasingly fast-paced world, and it is a pleasure to celebrate and be a part of our cardholders’ different life stages with these incredible moments,” she added.
