The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that effective Sunday, February 10, 2019, a section of the Church Street in Lucea, Hanover, will be closed to vehicular traffic.

The road will be closed between the Lucea Tax Office and the Lucea United Church.

The closure will be between 6:00 a.m and 6:00 p.m.

Community Relations Officer at the NWA’s Western Region Janel Ricketts says that the closure is necessary to facilitate the replacement of defective culverts that are now negatively impacting two sections of the roadway.

Ricketts says that motorists travelling from f the Lucea town centre, towards the direction of Negril,  may use the alternative route through Mosely Drive, West Avenue and Watson Taylor Drive.

While motorists travelling from the direction of Negril, towards Montego Bay, may travel  via West Avenue, onto Mosley Drive, then proceed along Willie Delisser Boulevard.

The roadway is being repaired at a cost of $2.8 million and involves the replacement of the defective culverts, the construction of parapet walls and the reinstatement of the affected sections of the roadway using asphaltic concrete overlay.

Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signals and instructions of flag persons and police personnel.
