Fresh violence between warring factions in August Town, eastern St Andrew has claimed the life of at least one person.

Information is sketchy at this time, but The Gleaner understands that one man was killed this morning in an area of the community known as "Angola".

There are reports of sporadic gunfire being heard in sections of the eastern St Andrew community that has been experiencing outbreaks of violence since the start of the new year.

The August Town police have confirmed the reports of gunfire, however, they say one person was injured.

The community was placed under curfew earlier this month by the police.

More information will follow soon.
