St James parents being questioned in relation to death of 3-y-o daughter

The parents of a St James child have been taken into custody by the St Ann Police as they commence a probe into the circumstances surrounding the death of their 3-year-old daughter.

The police say Athena Forbes of Bogue Village, Montego Bay died at the St Ann’s Bay Hospital on Saturday.

The police say about 7:10 p.m. Athena was in the company of her parents who were travelling from Montego Bay to Portland.

It is alleged that she fell ill and was taken to the hospital.

While being medically examined, it was observed that she had bruises and swelling on her body.

Hospital officials notified the police.

She subsequently succumbed to her illness and her body removed to the morgue for a post mortem.

Her parents have since been taken into custody for questioning.
