Two arrested for lottery scamming in St James
A man and woman suspected of breaching the lottery scamming law were arrested by members of the Lottery Scam Task Force on Monday.
The police say a special operation was carried out along the Brandon Hill main road in St James yesterday afternoon when the driver of a Toyota Premio motorcar was signalled to stop.
According to the police, evidence unearthed during a search of the vehicle suggested that the female and male occupants of the motorcar were involved in lottery scamming.
The police say a warrant was prepared and a follow-up operation was carried out at their house in Catherine Hall in the parish where 19 lead sheets, one black Samsung tablet and two Samsung cellular phones were seized.
The two were taken into custody.
The police say arrangements are being made for them to be interviewed in the presence of their attorney.
