Scotiabank continues to innovate
Scotiabank continues to innovate in the digital banking space with the launch of two new features, free access to its mobile phone app and transaction alerts. The bank has partnered with Digicel Jamaica to offer Scotiabank customers with Digicel phones access to the Scotia Mobile App at no cost.
This means that Digicel customers can access their Scotiabank accounts to transfer funds, add credit to their mobile phone, pay bills, or check account activity even if they have no credit available. Similarly, accessing the banking platform will not affect postpaid customers’ data plans.
“This is a first for any bank in the Caribbean and a feature that we are sure our customers will appreciate,” said David Noel, president and chief executive officer of Scotia Group Jamaica.
Late last year, the bank also launched alerts for debit and credit card transactions, which give real-time notifications once a debit or credit card transaction is conducted. Alerts are even available for purchases where the card is not present, where a card is used outside of the country, and for both point-of-sale and ATM transactions.
The bank recently indicated that digital channels continue to increase in popularity, and at the end of the financial year in October 2018, online and mobile transactions accounted for 21 per cent of overall transactions, versus in-branch transactions, which represented 13 per cent of total transactions.
“We continue to provide innovative solutions and enhancements to our customer experience. Our customers have embraced digital banking, and we want to keep surpassing their expectations in that area. We are proud of our most recent digital banking features,” said Executive Vice-President of Retail Banking Audrey Tugwell Henry
“Alerts are an important tool to improve security and give our customers peace of mind, and our free mobile-banking access is a really great feature that gives customers completely free access to their bank account, 24 hours a day, from their Digicel phone. This will be a significant convenience for customers,” Tugwell Henry added.
Scotiabank customers interested in signing up for alerts can do so via the Scotia Mobile App or the Scotia OnLine platform.
