The National Works Agency (NWA) is reporting that a section of Church Street in Hanover will be closed temporarily on Sunday, May 5.

The NWA says vehicular traffic will be restricted between the Lucea Tax Collectorate and Lorenton Avenue between 7:00 a.m and 1:00 p.m. to facilitate ongoing repair works to the roadway.

Community Relations Officer at the NWA’s Western Region, Janel Ricketts, explains that sections of the roadway will be reinstated, following the completion of works to replace defective drainage culverts.

Ricketts says the roadway has been reshaped and primed in preparation for paving.

She is advising motorists travelling from the Lucea town centre towards Negril  to use the alternative route through Mosely Drive, West Avenue and Watson Taylor Drive.

Motorists travelling from the direction of Negril, towards Montego Bay, may travel via West Avenue, onto Mosley Drive, then proceed along Willie Delisser Boulevard.

Motorists are being reminded to obey warning signs and the instructions of flag persons and the police when operating in the construction area.
