The sex acts allegedly occurred between 2008 and 2015.

A St Andrew pastor is facing criminal charges following accusations that he repeatedly engaged in sex acts with a member of his congregation under the guise that he was following God’s instructions to help her conceive a child.

Dave Jonas, 53, pastor of Apostle of Philadelphia Ministry, located off Washington Boulevard, also in St Andrew, was arrested and charged yesterday with rape and grievous sexual assault.

He was taken into custody on Thursday by detectives assigned to the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse.

The sex acts allegedly occurred between 2008 and 2015.

According to investigators, it started with the clergyman inviting the complainant to a ‘meeting’ inside his church offices where he allegedly poured olive oil on his fingers and used them to ‘anoint’ her vagina.

Soon after, it is alleged, he had sex with the complainant without her consent.

Investigators claim this continued after the pastor told the complainant that “God told him to do it in order for her to conceive.”
