Whitehouse, Westmoreland:Jamaicans walked away with the biggest award haul after dominating the ENCORE grand finals held at Sandals Whitehouse European Village and Spa on Saturday, September 20.

The model and talent search competitions featured 43 team members from Sandals/Beaches Resorts, Appliance Traders Limited (ATL) and Unique Vacations, spanning the six Caribbean islands of Jamaica, Grenada, Antigua, Bahamas, St Lucia and Turks and Caicos.

Throughout the year, resorts and regions staged elimination shows to select their favourite performers to represent them at the grand finals, with the hopes of taking home the coveted titles of Best Male and Female Vocalists, Best Instrumentalists, Champion Dancer, and Top Male and Female Model.

Patriotic energy was palpable in the packed Le Cabaret theatre at Sandals Whitehouse as models sashayed their way onstage in costumes representing their respective islands. Jamaica's costume depicting a giant Swallowtail Butterfly - symbolising the beauty and free spirit of the people and unique art and culture, won the costume parade. At the end of the night, it walked away with the grand prize.

The night's top honours went to Unique Vacation's Shana-Kay Ergas (Best Female Vocalist) for her moving rendition of Nina Simone's Feeling Good. Crowd favourite Andre Palmer from Sandals Grande Riviera was named Best Male Vocalist after he performed Ben E. King's I who have nothing to an awestruck audience.

Jamaican Jolon Jones from Sandals Royal Caribbean copped the top title for his keyboard performance. Sandals Montego Bay's hip hop performer, Scion Derby, was awarded Champion Dancer after pleasing the judges and the audience with his one-hand stands, back flips and head stands, much to the delight of the audience who were on their feet.

Shadeky Mitchell from Beaches Negril ruled the catwalk and was a clear crowd favourite during her costume parade. She later sealed the deal after rocking the crowd in her beach and evening wear, and was awarded the Top Female Model title. "I am happy to have won and blessed to have been a part of such a fantastic competition. I must thank all my colleagues from Beaches Negril who really supported me all the way," said the happy and equally stunning model.

St Lucian Yannick Thomas will be flying back home with the Top Male Model title in tow.

The winners all received ENCORE acrylic awards, cell phones from Digicel, weekends for two at any Sandals, Beaches or Grand pineapple resorts, laptop bags, and backpacks from ATL and gift baskets.
