Halloween may not be for everyone, but it is fast becoming mainstream in Jamaica. Whether you call it Halloween or just a costume party, it is that time of year again when those who join in the frolic and fun of dressing up and trick or treating step out and channel their alter egos. From ghoulish disguises to fairy-tale princesses, to a famous character trending in pop culture, Halloween is the time to have fun and run wild with your imagination.
The reptilian house of Hope Zoo was the hauntingly beautiful setting for our eerie, but wickedly fun Halloween shoot. Inspired by the deluxe high-quality costumes from Fontana Pharmacy, acclaimed make-up artist Paul March let his artistic expression run wild. With a few expert brush strokes, an evil queen became an evil queen under attack, and then a devilishly wicked witch became a sexy vampire. Whether you want to go sexy, gory, or just plain awesome, Paul March is the makeup guru with the special-effects tricks to have you looking as if you just walked out of a zombie movie.
Fontana Pharmacy has a wide selection of adult and children's costumes and accessories to outfit any masquerade event.
Hope Zoo will be hosting its annual Halloween party on October 31, coined 'Boo at the Zoo', and Hope Zoo administrator Kimesha James says it promises to be bigger and better than last year. "Children will be able to trick or treat around the zoo and enjoy games and surprises. There will be a bounce-about, rock climbing, entertainment, and much more. The festivities begin at 5 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to wear their best costume!"
Costume Safety Tips for children
When selecting a costume for the little ones, make sure it is the right size to prevent trips and falls.
Make sure that masks do not obstruct their vision.
Make sure children are protected, and if out at night, ensure that reflective tape is placed on costumes for safety.
