Best Christmas Ever!

Twenty-seven-year-old hairdresser Crystal Edwards had several items on her wish list for Christmas. On her list were additional equipment for her recently established salon, gifts for her two children, and some well-needed cash to clear up some overdue bills.

On Christmas Eve, what she thought was another strike against her turned out to be one of the greatest fortunes she has encountered in her life.

On December 23, she received a call from telecommunications firm LIME informing her that she had been selected as the grand-prize winner in their Win Like A MVP promotion. Disappointed, she informed them that she did not have a visa for the United States and would be unable to claim the prize of a luxury trip for two to New York City to celebrate New Years Eve.

Little did she know that, the very next day, the prize she thought she had missed, would become a well-needed boost towards realising some of her personal and professional dreams.

Edwards was surprised with a cheque for US$10,000 by the telecommunications firm and two of its brand ambassadors Ity & Fancy Cat as she prepared to open her Maxfield Avenue salon on Christmas Eve morning. Described by friends as a hard-working and level-headed individual, the young entrepreneur was dumbfounded when the team entered her shop.

Earlier, the company placed two fake calls pretending to be potential clients. I was expecting two persons to come in, thats why I rushed here this morning. I feel like this is not real said a shocked Edwards as she collected her winnings. I have never won anything before and, as a matter of fact, I thought it was a scam when I got the first call from LIME, she recalls.

Edwards recently returned from a 2014 work programme in Cayman, and decided to start her own business. As you can see, my shop is not fully finished as yet. I have been struggling with it for about six months, she shared. Admitting that the season had been slow for the new business, Edwards said, I had no expectations this Christmas, but with this surprise, I am extremely overwhelmed and grateful!

Already planning to make improvements to her shop, she indicated that she will be putting her National Housing Trust account in order, as she is also aiming to purchase a home for her family in the New Year.

Everything I do is for my children, and to make their future better. This money has come just in time. It will make many things that I never thought possible be done sooner. I am so elated right now. she laughed.
