Proud grandparents-Our 'little' Kaci
Grandparents proud of 'our little Kaci'
Just last month, Miss Universe Jamaica Kaci Fennell made her family and country proud in the Miss Universe pageant held in Doral, Florida.
Her family is extremely proud of their 'little' Kaci's fifth-place placement in the competition. And it seems no one is more proud than her grandparents, Mike and Kathleen Fennell.
The proud grandparents told Outlook that they are happy Kaci is finally living her dream.
"She has always wanted to enter one of these contests. She loved modelling from she was a little thing. This was a dream she had for some time, and the opportunity came and she went for it. I feel very happy. She did us all proud," her grandmother, Kathleen, gushed to Outlook.
She continued: "She has always been daddy's little girl and, whatever her father did, in terms of reading the newspaper and so on, she would imitate him," she recalls.
They were not surprised at their granddaughter's success at all.
"She has always been a sweet little girl and has always demonstrated a high level of intelligence. She has always been a very active young woman who is consistently willing to help others. She is just an extraordinary young person - in terms of her beauty and disposition," her grandfather, Mike, revealed.
He shares that his most memorable time with his granddaughter is Christmas, as she would always be the one to bless the food.
"She is a very open person. She discusses her future and education with me. She has a very keen sense of fashion and loves to cook and persist in anything she does," he says.
Always there for her with words of wisdom, her grandmother is proud of how Kaci's parents, Yvonne and Michael, raised Kaci and her other siblings.
Her words of advice to her granddaughter: "Continue to be the beautiful person you are, no matter what. People are going to say a lot of things, but just be yourself - a beautiful woman, inside and out. Just go for your dreams, we are all behind you. I hope that your reign as Miss Universe Jamaica will be a wonderful year and that you will accomplish everything you want to do for the year. We just want everybody to support her in what she has chosen," she implored everyone.
From Grandpa Mike: "Do the things you want to do and don't impose on anybody else's idea, and I am here to guide you in whatever endeavour you choose. Be very careful because, in this situation there will be no shortage of people who will want to offer you things and try to advise you, and we just need to evaluate all these very carefully and not rush into any decision. We are here to assist with any advice you may need as you go through this particular period."
