Honorary Consul of Ecuador Clelia Barreto de Hunter celebrated her birthday with a grand fiesta with diplomats and colleagues sharing their best wishes on February 6 at the residence of Neryl-Dawn Bridon on Lady Musgrave Road.

Bridon and her team from Pollyanna Caterers & Banqueters ensured that Barreto de Hunter celebrated her special day in fine style.

Appointed consul in 1987, Jamaica remains the only country she has ever served.

She entered her party as the lady in red who was not short on surprises, and friends showed up with not only hugs and kisses, but bearing gifts.

With just a handful of men in attendance, the evening's proceedings was similar to a girls' night out - cocktails and laughter all around, a mingling frenzy ensued on the lawns of the venue, which was beautifully decorated in red and black, with candles, red centrepieces and disco lights creating the perfect atmosphere to party the night away.

The music of Bob Marley mixed with salsa by Nice Vybe sound system, cocktails flowed into the dinner hour and then the real party began.

Fun-filled evening

The menu consisted of scrumptious dishes such as beef tenderloin in mushroom sauce, silver snapper fish fillet served in coconut sauce, glazed ham, deep-fried plantain, vegetable stew and roti - accompanied by Pure Country Style fruit juice, Appleton Special and a variety of vino.

Barreto de Hunter was joined by family and friends who helped her in cutting one of her two birthday cakes - black forest and white chocolate with strawberry surprise.

Among those sharing the warm festivities were Venezuelan Ambassador Maria Mendoza; Evroy Chin, honorary consul of Philippines; William Bush, chargÈ d'affaires of the Colombian Embassy, and his wife, Anna; and wife of the Japanese ambassador, Sayoko Takase.
