The wedding season officially began with the ultimate event of the year, Wedding Spectacular, held on the lawns of Hope Gardens on February 22, attracting more than 35 wedding-related companies showcasing their products and services to make the dreams of brides- and grooms-to-be come true.
It was quite a spectacle as singles, prospective brides and grooms, families and friends explored the various booths featuring tuxedos, dresses, make-up, gift items for bridal registry, floral arrangements, wedding cakes, skin consultation, massages, hairstyling, catering and decor, video and photography, among others.
Patrons were educated at the various stations and were guaranteed to find something that matched their personality.
Glitz and Glamour
What would the event be without the glitz and glamour of a mini fashion show? At different intervals, Petals and Promises, Beautiful Brides and Mr Tux, Bliss Bridal, Sandi's Selections and Neahlis showcased their unique and classy collections of bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses and tuxedos.
The master of ceremonies, Deborah 'Debbie' Bissoon, kept the audience entertained with various competitions and trivia about the companies who came prepared with prizes and surprises. Bissoon later introduced singer Kconeil who gave renditions from his album after doing Thinking Out Loud, originally by Ed Sheedan.
Attractive displays
Specially designed cabanas were striking in their own way. Bliss Bridal stood out with a number of soft white sofas, glass tables, mannequins wearing wedding and bridesmaid dresses. To top things off, they gave away a free wedding-dress rental to one lucky bride-to-be.
Several other booths shared the spirit of giving. Eden Gardens interacted with the audience, providing free upper-body massages and hairstyles to a few women. Salon Innovation and Make-Up by Julz also gave free makeovers.
Audios, visuals and lighting company ReggaeTech kept the patrons entertained. They also had their share of giveaways when they presented a couple, who won the "most interesting 10-second kiss challenge" - a 50 per cent discount off any service for their wedding.
It was indeed a spectacular event topped with giveaways that included baskets, makeovers and weekend-for-two gift certificates.
