Language and Culture Soirée
"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn," said Benjamin Franklin a founding father of the United States of America and The Canter for Language and Culture seems to mirror this outlook with their preschool in which they are investing.
Aline Luna Less and her husband, Carlo, founded the institution, as they saw that it was important to integrate culture into children's learning and education. The institution integrates the teaching of foreign languages into children's daily routine.
To help further their dream, on June 13, they held a fundraiser at 21 Grosvenor Terrace to assist them in getting educational materials for French and Spanish, as well as to develop their recreational area - playground.
Parents and teachers gathered for dinner under intimate lighting on the warm Saturday night. Children were left at home as the adults enjoyed the live acoustics of Papi Umba Big Band, fine wine and a carefree evening. The gathering was small and intimate like the size of the preschool, and it turned out more like a family dinner as everyone knew each other.
Less, also known as 'Aunty Luna', gave a short address thanking her team, and the parents for their unwavering support and their sponsors which includes Pepsi, CPJ and the Argentinean Embassy.
After the address, guests were then asked to take part in the fare which included a combination of local and authentic Spanish and Peruvian dishes.
