Alicia's Exclusive runs
Pulse's Jamaican star, Alicia Burke, was in stunning form at this season's just concluded New York Fashion Week, working for only a handful of the biggest names in fashion.
She is currently in Milan, where her exclusive appearances continue. She then heads to Paris for the last of the collections. Given her current status, earned in a few months in Europe earlier this year (as well as her exclusive agreements with some of the most important names in fashion), Alicia is closing in on the industry's top ranks.
Accordingly, she is being managed very carefully, and, because of her exclusives, she has to limit her appearances.
Alicia's first New York Fashion week appearances were for biggies such as Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, Jason Wu, Tommy Hilfiger, Altuzzara and Prabal Gurung. That's super exclusive and pretty heavyweight for a first showing.
After a mere eight months in the international market, Alicia no longer goes on castings, but rather is booked for the shows by request. She skipped the London shows, despite holding bookings for the likes of Burberry. However, she had no choice, having to remain in New York to fulfil one of her commitments requiring a three-day shoot for one of fashion's top publications, with arguably the industry's most highly regarded photographer. She also had to shoot a massive campaign that cannot yet be disclosed.
Milan and Paris will close out Alicia's first full fashion season, having started her international career at the beginning of 2016.
In these new markets, Alicia will add to her impressive client list which currently includes French Vogue (12 pages by herself with David Simms), cover and 18 pages of Harper's Bazaar, Style.com, Gucci, Prada, Me & Em, Versace, Italian Vogue, I-D, Benetton, The Sunday Times, Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood, 1883, Top Shop, Bottega Veneta, Theory with David Simms, Lesley Goring, Harvey Nichols, Tush, J. JS Lee and Azzedine Alaia.
Other clients include Emelio de la Morena, Bora Akeem, Sibling, Osman, Amanda, Schiaparelli, Self Service with Matteo Montanari, Elie Saab, Viktor & Rolf, The Last Magazine with Dan Martensen and Clare Richardson, as well as Double Magazine.
All this accomplished in seven months by a shy young Jamaican from Bullet Tree in Old Harbour! Fashion's 'bible' Vogue, speaking of her in May, said "When a great model arrives, everyone takes notice," After her Gucci appearance then, have put their money where their mouth is, booking her for multiple assignments in both Europe and the United States.
Models.com has been no less exuberant, calling her "the perfect canvas" in the influential website's maiden feature on the emerging star.
The winner of Pulse's 2015 Caribbean Model Search Reality TV show, Alicia is commanding the attention of fashion editors everywhere. Industry insiders anxiously wait to see what the next few months will bring as she executes her exclusive obligations which extend to December. Her agency Pulse, is fully satisfied with her success to date, indicating that Alicia has exceeded their wildest expectations, despite being fairly certain that she would have become a star.
