New Year, New you
Every year, when the clock strikes midnight on December 31, we normally hear and see people on social media using the phrase "new year, new me!"
And while the new year brings new opportunities and changes, it doesn't necessarily mean we have to change everything about ourselves. It's about creating and working on being a better version of yourself - a 'You 2.2'.
According to entrepreneur and motivational speaker Kemal Brown, "You don't get what you want, you get what you are, and as such, one of the main things you should work on for the new year is personal development. Personal development is the decision you make to achieve the highest version of yourself. This will manifest itself in multiple ways. When you become a better person, you adopt a positive mental attitude that allows the people around you to feel valued and allow you to unleash your full potential in whatever task you undertake."
He continued: "When you ask someone what their New Year's resolution is, we hear the usual, 'I'm going to start eating healthier and going to the gym more' or 'I'm going to get closer to God,'" Brown notes that while these are great resolutions to have, they often lack consistency, and the will power to dedicate oneself to getting better - to improve themselves. As a result, he advises that for the new year, you look at your goals and your dreams - what do you really want to be in life? And aligning those goals to your actions.
"You can use vision boards, and I, personally, love affirmations, so I develop a set of sayings that I use to help motivate myself in the mornings. The world can be a very negative place, so your attitude is very important, and the attitude you bring towards your tasks and life. Are you someone who gets the job done? Or someone who always complains? Personal development should take you into the new year and that should be backed by consistency and dedication. The better you become, the better your life and relationships will become."

Going into the new year, I want to continue spreading positivity and making people happy.

For the new year I will continue to provide more comfort to my daughter. Therefore, I'll be extending a part of my house to create a nursery. It's already started, so my main New Year's resolution is to complete it in the next few weeks. I'm now second and my baby is first. I'll be thinking about her first in everything I do. I'm aiming at being the best mom possible.

My New Year's resolution is to be calmer. I worry a lot and easily get miserable over every little thing - so I'm working towards being more patient and tolerant. Also, I will be making a transition into the IT industry, so I am planning to work hard towards that. I also pray that for the new year God will find me a partner.
