Barbara Lee blazes in Balenciaga history
Saint International's boss Deiwght Peters' latest muse, Barbra-Lee Grant is now front and centre for the global advertising campaign for legendary French fashion house, Balenciaga. This is a first for a Jamaican model.
"This is another stunner from the arsenal of the Saint Jamaican model army," Peters told Outlook. "When such an influential global brand selects you to be their global face, it sets you in a different league of models," he added. The news couldn’t have come at a better time, after another successful stating of Styleweek Jamaica. The campaign was styled by powerhouse Lotta Volkova with the blessing of designer and creative genius Demna Gvasalia and shot by photographer Johnny Dufort.
"We are pleased that another prestigious international brand would select the face of yet another Saint model. It speaks volumes of the Saint 'factor’," said Peters. This is a major feat considering that Barbra has no major editorial status. This is another historic moment for the agent whose success has been noted by American Vogue, Italian Vogue and conservative global media such as Le Monde in Paris.
Balenciaga’s influence on global fashion is widely documented. From its founder Cristobal Balenciaga to its latest creative director Demna Gvasalia, the storied house (owned by luxury conglomerate Kering) is considered one of Paris’ top five. Christian Dior once referred to Balenciaga as the "master of us all".
Though mum on the monetary value of the contract, Peters revealed that the creative team of the house of Balenciaga has enlisted Barbra for several exciting new projects which resulted in her unavailability for Styleweek Jamaica.
