The creative juices of Half Moon's sous chef, Omar Sybblis, were unveiled while monetary
matters were discussed at the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry's (MCCI) luncheon at the
resort's convention centre on Wednesday afternoon.
The event, held as a precursor to the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) Finance Ministers forum, attracted the who's who from the business community and could be best described as a journey into the culinary prowess of the 60-year-old hotel, renowned for its fine food.
Embracing the lemon grass - coconut broth jerked chicken, green papaya, and rice noodles appetiser, complemented by an amazing plantain and rosemary crusted grouper, roasted breadfruit, gingered pak choi and cho-cho saffron sauce, the packed room of movers and shakers were addressed by Minister of Finance and Planning Dr Peter Phillips and deputy managing director of the IMF, Dr Min Zhu.
With the IMF's regional meeting, it was an opportunity to get an insight into the financial forecast.
Of note is the fact that each time the IMF has visited Jamaica in the last three years, they make sure to meet with the Montego Bay business community.
"It acknowledges the important role that Montego Bay and western Jamaica has in the growth and development agenda for Jamaica," said MCCI president, Nathan Robb, who said it was not an accident that they agreed to meet with the business operators.
Robb and his team partnered with major sponsors LIME, Scotiabank, Sandals and Caribbean Producers Jamaica.
