Restaurant Week launch rocks Boardwalk Beach
Food, great libation, beach, music, great vibes! What more could you ask for at the Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week launch held last Sunday at the Boardwalk Beach in Portmore, St Catherine?
Like never before the 11th staging of the ultimate food event of the year dubbed 'Dig In' (November 13-21) promises to be bigger and better.
Beautifully decorated cabanas, bars, booths, and exhibitions transformed the venue into a spectacle that attracted foodies from all across the island to celebrate one thing - food.
Fashionistas were dressed to kill. Multicoloured shorts, rompers, and maxis were the order of the day, while the men kept it cool and simple in shorts and tees.
As the afternoon launch progressed, patrons enjoyed delicious hors d'oeuvres from sponsors, including Lucky Strike Lounge, who satisfied taste buds with chicken and waffles, sweet onion crabs, lobster stamp and go and codfish with mac and cheese sauce. Then some foodies went over to Gas Pro's booth, where lamb, chicken, pork and grilled apple were served. To top it off, a chocolate fountain was provided to satisfy the sweet tooth.
But some patrons were also able to dig into something authentically Jamaican with The Gleaner Media Company providing a coconut man and warm cornmeal and potato pudding courtesy of Edgar Wallace, while the Yellow Pages had their cane man.
The giveaways kicked off with one lucky foodie - Tiffany Page, who won a free entry to the RW launch after she was encouraged by friends to participate in the instagram competition #GetmetoRW. Page, who was spotted at the launch, told Today that she posted a collage of three past RWs, and wrote why she deserved to be a part of the launch. The giveaways continued with Andrew Raymore walking away with a pot of Edgar Wallace's potato pudding courtesy of the Gleaner Media Company's Booth.
Throughout the evening, energy was kept high as DJ smoke kept the audience entertained.
So save the date - November 13-21. See you there!
