Riu Hotels & Resorts honours its top-producing local agents
Riu hosted more than 30 of its top-producing local travel agents at its new RIU Reggae and recently renovated RIU Negril last weekend.
The agents, who enjoyed the first of a two-night stay at RIU Negril, spent the second night at the newest hotel in the Jamaican chain - Riu Reggae. Officially opened to the public on November 19, with 454 rooms located on Montego Bay's beachfront, the new hotel, is the chain's sixth on the island and the second just for adults over the age of 18.
"The local market is one of the main sources of business to the Riu hotels in Jamaica, and the travel agent community has supported the brand from day one. We are looking forward to greater things together in 2017, and are truly grateful for their support throughout the years," stated the resort's new director of sales, Niurka Garcia-Linton.
During the weekend, the agents had an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the hotels, attend a product update workshop, and still had time to enjoy the resorts' activities.
On Saturday night, they were recognised for their efforts in brining business to the Jamaican properties.
Novlet Minott of Nova Events and Travel, was named Top Agent, while Leisure for Pleasure walked away with the Top Producing Agency.
Second place went to Trafalgar Travel, with third place copped by Sunshine Adventures.
Receiving her award, Minott lauded the hotel chain for recognising the local agents, offering them great incentives and opportunities.
"Riu Hotels and Resorts Jamaica has allowed Nova Events and Travel to live our motto every time ... 'We Will Make It Happen!' Nuff love to all my clients ... you made this possible," she stated.
