Thirteen Jamaicans advanced to round two of the individual events at the Caribbean Regional Badminton Confederation (CAREBACO) tournament on Tuesday night at the Alfred Sangster Auditorium, University of Technology (UTech).
In Under-19 competition, Sean Wilson beat Cory Fanus 21-19, 21-10, and Kenneth Anglin defeated Sheraz Nabbie 17-21, 21-6, 24-2. Both losers were from Barbados. Among the women, Dematra Mew edged Onika Moe of Barbados 21-13, 21-12; Jade Clarke defeated compatriot Diamond Cassanova 21-8, 21-15, while Christina Petri had a 21-14, 21-16 win over Kristi Reno-Singh of Trinidad and Tobago.
In Under-17 action, Shane Wilson beat Jerome Charles of T&T 21-11, 21-3; Oshane Newland lost 13-21, 9-21 to Shae Martin of Barbados; and Matthew Lee beat Jonathan Mangra of Guyana 21-19, 21-15.
Isaac Roberts edged Keshem Moore 21-12, 21-16, while Alante Daley went down10-21, 9-21 to Jehu Gaskin of Barbados. Justin Taylor eased past Joshua Smith of T& T 13-21, 21-15, 21-17; and Shamar Hunter beat Narayan Ramdhani of Guyana 21-8, 21-7.
Anna Morrison outclassed Brittney Mohammed of T&T 21-8, 21-2; and Esther Reynolds ousted Ralitsa Wong 21-13, 21-15. Christina Hastings beat Ambika Ramraj of Guyana 21-13, 21-14.
In the Under-15 singles, Malik Brown beat John Cupples 16-21, 21-15, 21-19; and Joel Angus beat Kodie King of Barbados 17-21, 21-11, 21-13; while Rhys Reid beat Michael Constantine 21-19, 21-12.
Dane Sinclair stopped Zane Juman of T&T 21-12, 21-13; while Mark Anthony Salmon lost 3-21, 8-21 to Ihsaan Furlonge of T&T.
In Girl's Under-13 singles, Rashmi Ragbear lost 6-21, 16- 21 to Ananda Ramsingh of T&T. Shawn Clarke lost 8-21, 8-21 to Vance Juteram of T&T; Marlon Hines edged Alkalif Blake 21-16, 14-21 and 24-22. Zane Reid beat Kennie King of Barbados 21-11, 21-11.
Romaine Cole stopped Vance Juteram of Barbados 21-8, 21-8; while Tristan Martin lost 5-21, 1-21 to Stephon Butcher of T&T. Adam Taylor beat Dominick Scantlebury of Barbados 21-18, 21-12; but Kyle Sarju lost 7-21 and 3-21 to Barbados' Nicolas Howard.
