Vincent powers Barbican to 10-0 win
Tashana Vincent powered in four goals and Tasheka Small netted a hat-trick as Barbican hammered Rangers FC 10-0 in their Zone A Jamaica Football Federation/Sherwin Williams Women's Premier League football competition, which got under way last week.
National striker Vincent scored in the 12th, 21st, 77th, and 80th minutes for a rampaging Barbican outfit. Small was almost equally devastating in her finishing, with goals in the 26th, 28th, and 81st.
Alicia James, who started the rout with a fourth-minute strike, netted again at the 62nd minute for a double, while Rochelle Bryan (19th) also put her name on the scoresheet.
There were two other Zone A matches. One ended with a big win for Waterhouse, which blanked Portmore Strikers 5-0. The scorers were Samantha Foster (11th), Kerona Williams (19th), Shanice McDonald (29th), Chevannesse Clarke (38th) and Sydonnie Hall (53rd).
The other ended in a 1-0 win for Arnett Gardens over Trelawny Women's FC. Shantely Bailey netted the winner at the 52nd minute.
Three matches were also played in Zone B and two were settled by wide margins.
Los Perfectos, which got two goals apiece from Sabrina Stone (30th, 34th) and Kevena Reid (39th, 40th), thumped University of the West Indies Women FC 6-1. Shantell Thompson (78th) and Remona Hyde (80th) also scored for Los Perfectos FC, while Brenda Lee Walsh (58) netted a consolation for the UWI team.
G.C. Foster College, led by a double from Kerall Whyte (seventh, 21st), romped past Boys' Town FC 5-0. Tasheka Gordon (46th), Roxine Salmon (69th), and Jodeen Whyte (73rd) also scored for the winners.
In the other game, Kadian Grant scored the game's lone goal at the 71st minute to hand St James Women's Academy victory by the slimmest of margins over Real Morant Strikers FC.
The league continues today with six additional games.
In Zone A: Rangers FC vs Waterhouse at St Mary Sports Complex; Portmore Strikers vs Trelawny Women at Racing Oval; and Barbican FC vs Arnett Gardens FC at Barbican Complex.
Zone B matches are: Boys' Town vs Harbour View at Collie Smith Drive; UWI Women vs Real Morant Strikers FC at UWI Bowl, and St James Women vs G.C. Foster at Jarrett Park, St James.
