Ottis Gibson resigns as West Indies coach

KINGSTON, Jamaica:

Barbados-born Ottis Gibson, is no longer the coach of the West Indies Cricket team.


 

Gibson, whose contract was renewed last year, today resigned after discussions with members of the West Indies Cricket Board executive.



His contract would have ended in 2016.



Gibson's departure comes on the eve of the West Indies' two-test series against Bangladesh that begins tomorrow with a One-Day International in St Georges, Grenada.



The West Indies will play three ODIs, one Twenty20 International and three test matches in the series that ends on September 17.

 

Former West Indies captain, Richie Richardson, will be in charge for the Bangladesh series.
