Brown takes shot at Woodcreek Classic
Jamaica's rising golf star, Wesley Brown, begins his quest for glory when he tees off in the Woodcreek Classic Tournament in South Carolina today.
Brown got his invitation to the four-day event following his sensational win in an event on the Carolina Series/National Golf Association (NGA) Tour.
He is now competing in the Pro Series, which comprises the best players on the NGA Tour. This series has the standards and guidelines that exist on the Professional Golf Association or Web.com Tour.
The NGA Tour consists of several tours (Pro Series, Carolina Series, Winter Series) and Brown, who is employed at the Sandals Golf and Country Club, currently plays on the Carolina Series. The Pro Series is the top level on the NGA Tour and the top-10 money earners on the Carolina Series gets automatic qualification into the Pro Series, which is what Brown is trying to do.
The Jamaican is currently 21st on the money list on the Carolina Series and just needs to finish in the top five or better in his remaining events.
Sandals Resorts has been Brown's sponsors for the past two years.
He arrived in Carolina on Tuesday, had two great practice rounds and expressed confidence in his game.
"My game has improved and I have developed more patience," Brown noted. "Now it's just a matter of execution."
Upon completion of this event, the local ace will return to the Carolina series, where he will play in four other events.
