Bethel Town net St Ann senior division crown

Bethel Town Strikers won the 2014 Noranda Bauxite Trophy for the senior division of the St Ann Netball Association parish tournament in the finals played on Sunday.

Bethel Town defeated Brown's Town Masters 36-31 in a close encounter at Port Rhoades Sports Club in Discovery Bay, to earn the winners' prize of $80,000, courtesy of Noranda, sponsors of the parish-wide competition, which commenced on Sunday, June 16, with 12 teams.

Glasgow Youth Club defeated Eltham 30-24 in the final of the intermediate section.

St Ann Netball Association president, Constantine Cunningham, congratulated the clubs for their discipline and high standard of play, which he said attracted large crowds to the matches at Port Rhoades club each Sunday evening.
