ATHLETICS: Bailey-Cole, Powell face off again
Jamaica’s Commonwealth Games champion Kemar Bailey-Cole and former world record holder Asafa Powell will return to action today to compete at the 2014 IAAF World Challenge meeting in Zagreb, Croatia.
Bailey-Cole and Powell will contest the men's 100 metres, which is scheduled to start at 1:55 p.m. Jamaica time.
The 22-year-old Bailey-Cole is the big favourite after clocking a season's best 9.96 to win at the Diamond League meeting in Zurich last week.
Powell, who got a good start, faded into fourth in 10.07 seconds.
The race also includes another Jamaican – Sheldon Mitchell – along with Americans Ryan Bailey, Mike Rodgers and Richard Thompson of Trinidad and Tobago.
Two other Jamaicans will compete in Zagreb.
They are Andrew Riley, who face off with American Aris Meritt in the men's 110-metre hurdles and Edino Steele who competes in the men's 400 metres.
