Bailey 'happy' last-minute goal earns Ardenne draw

A sensational last- minute free kick by Bebetto Daley handed Ardenne High a 2-2 draw against Denham Town at Ardenne High in Group C of the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/LIME Manning Cup football competition yesterday.
Denham Town went into a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals by Tarrique Campbell in the 53rd minute and Shevon Richards (57th).
However, Ardenne fought back, and Shamar Bennett converted a penalty kick in the 76th minute, and Bailey came up big when he drove home a wonderful free-kick in 90+ minutes.
Bailey, who is in his third and final Manning Cup season, was happy that his 25-yard free-kick beat Denham Town's goalkeeper, Sanyio Salkie, and earned his team a share of the points.
"I feel happy to know that my goal gave the team a share of the points today (yesterday)," Bailey told The Gleaner.
"We lapsed defensively and were not playing well. The coach told us to fight until the end. We still have a chance to qualify for the next stage," he added.
Coach of Ardenne High, Junior Francis, said his team started well and gave up two soft goals, before fighting back.
"We were playing well in the first half, then gave up two soft goals. We fought back and scored a wonderful free kick that earned a share of the points," Francis said.
Meanwhile, Denham Town's coach, Earl Bennett, was disappointed with the result.
"Well, we didn't like the actions of the referee. The players got frustrated with the calls," Bennett said. "I'm disappointed with the result."
