Explosive Jamaican opener Chris Gayle has not been named in the West Indies 15-man squad for the upcoming away series of five One-day Internationals (ODIs) against India.

A release from the West Indies Cricket stated that Gayle was still recovering from an injury.

Gayle has been absent from the West Indies squad following the first Test against Bangladesh in St Lucia.

He was absent for the second and final Test as a result of personal reasons.

That match was the 500th Test match for the Caribbean side.

Meanwhile, Jamaican all-rounder Marlon Samuels has been surprisingly recalled to the West Indies squad.

He was dropped from the squad for the second Test against New Zealand in June after a run of poor form in all formats of the game.

Two other Jamaicans have been named in the squad.

They are all-rounder Andre Russell and pacer Jerome Taylor.

The Dwayne Bravo-led squad also includes Darren Sammy, Darren Bravo, mystery off spinner Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard and Ravi Rampaul.

The other members of the squad are Jason Holder, Leon Johnson, Denesh Ramdin, Kemar Roach, Lendl Simmons and Dwayne Smith.

The first ODI will on October 8 at the Nehru Stadium in Kochi.

The remaining matches are scheduled for October, 11, 14, 17 and 20.
