Two medals for Alia in Hong Kong

Jamaica's swimming sensation Alia Atkinson secured two medals, including a gold, on the opening day of the Hong Kong leg of the FINA/MastBank Swimming World Cup.

Atkinson's gold medal came in the women’s 100-metre breaststroke.

The 25-year-old Atkinson demolished the field in 1:03.23 seconds.

Rie Kaneto of Japan finished second for the silver medal in 1:06.42.

Tatjana Schoenmaker of South Africa took the bronze medal in 1:08.07.

Atkinson's other medal was a bronze.

She clocked 24.65 seconds to finish third in the women’s 50-metre freestyle.

Inge Dekker of the Netherlands claimed the gold medal in 24.02 seconds, while Katinka Hosszu of Hungary won silver in 24.58.

Atkinson missed a third medal as she finished fourth in the women’s 50-metre backstroke in 27.37.

Katinka Hosszu Hosszu won the gold medal in 26.24.
