St George's look to do double on KC
St George's College, 3-0 winners over Kingston College when the two teams met in ISSA/LIME Manning Cup this season will be attempting to do the double over their North Street rivals Kingston College when the schools meet today at Winchester Park. Kick off time is 3 p.m.
The 22-time champions outclassed 14-time winners KC in their own backyard and are warm favourites to pull off another dominant display in today's Group A return match.
With a second round berth already secured St George's will want to send a clear warning to their Manning Cup rivals with another emphatic victory over Kingston College.
Joint leading scorer, Shevon Stewart (seven goals), will lead the St George's charge. The diminutive Stewart, who has been having an outstanding season for the 'Light Blues', will enter today's contest against his rivals high on confidence, this after he scored in the 3-0 win.
Amoy Brown, who also has seven goals will also be raring to go against KC after he netted a spectacular volley against them in their recent clash.
National Under-17 striker Alex Marshall, who has scored six goals for St George's this season, but missed the clash at KC because of national duties, is also expected to play a vital role for his team in today's match. Others to watch include Gregory Messam Jr., son of the former Reggae Boyz defender, Devonte Francis and Ryan Paisley.
KC will look to ace midfielder Kashane Jones to keep out the confident Georgians.
Jones has been pulling the strings from midfield for his team, where he has netted two goals while dishing a number of assists to his teammates.
The lanky, skilful player, who wears the number 11 shirt, will be hoping to find his best form today. In the first game against St George's, he was guilty of missing several clear-cut chances.
Jones will be hoping to dominate his opponents with his pace as KC look to bring the high flying St George's back down to earth.
St George's have won all six of their matches and are on a comfortable 18 points, six clear of KC who are on 12 from five games.
Striker Jerome Coombs, who is joint top scorer for KC with two goals, is expected to lead his team's hunt for goals.
