$1m bonus awaits winner of SVL/Jamaica 2-y-o series
KINGSTON: An owner of a horse in the Supreme Ventures/Jamaica Two-Year-Old Horseracing Series could gallop away with a million-dollar bonus. That, however, depends on the success of that horse winning all three races in the series.
This major incentive was announced, along with others, at the launch for the 10th renewal of the annual spectacle, at a press conference at Caymanas Park, yesterday
The three-race series will commence with the first leg dedicated to the company's lottery game brand, Cash Pot, on National Heroes' Day, Monday, October 20, and will have on the day as its main feature the very 1200m race for the Cash Pot 'Only One For Me' trophy.
This feature, which carries a purse of $2.95m for the winner, will continue with the Pick 3 Race Day on November 29 and culminate with the company's corporate-branded day - Supreme Ventures - on December 26 (Boxing Day).
Supreme Ventures' total sponsorship amounts to $4.5m for purses in the entire series, plus the additional $1m bonus.
"This is the only series of its kind for two-year-olds in the English-speaking Caribbean and one that the horsemen look forward to, as it gives their yearlings an opportunity to showcase their budding talent early, plus it is the only event that offers a $1m bonus to the winner of the series," declared Carlene Edwards.
On the 'Cash Pot' race day, SVL will also conduct a promotion at Caymanas Park.
"We will have an exciting 'Dip in the Cash Pot' promotion lined up for punters at Caymanas Park on Cash Pot Race Day," Edwards outlined. "Punters who make a single-ticket purchase of $100 or more for the Cash Pot game from the SVL promotional booths at Caymanas Park will get a coupon to complete correctly and enter for the Dip in the Pot promotion.
"Fifteen lucky coupons will be drawn at various time intervals throughout the day in the winners' enclosure for a chance to win from $1,000 to $36,000," she informed.
The partnership between SVL and CTL started in 2004, and since then, has extended beyond the race days sponsored - Lotto Race Day, which is held in May and the Jamaica 2-Year-Old Race Series. It has grown to incorporate sales of the company's lottery and sports-betting product, JustBet, at the track.
Currently, there is a JustBet kiosk on location at Caymanas Park, as well as throughout CTL's off-track betting parlours, for ease of access to sports-betting fans to wager on their favourite international sporting events.
