Jamaica won 31-10.

The Sunshine Girls recorded mixed results on Friday's opening day of the World Fast5 Championships in Auckland, New Zealand, when they went down 31-13 to Australia, before recovering to eke out a narrow 31-30 victory over Malawi and then close out their three-match fixture with a 45-20 win over South Africa.

Goal shooter Romelda Aiken has been leading the charge for the Sunshine Girls at the tournament, as she netted 28 of her teams 31 goals against Malawi.

The Sunshine Girls, who finished third in the last championships, which was also held in New Zealand, are hoping to improve on that placing.

The Minnett Reynolds-coached Sunshine Girls were engaged in two other fixtures, against England and New Zealand.

Defender Malysha Kelly was withdrawn from the tournament due to a knee injury.
