Devon Smith ready for Test cricket return

West Indies opening batsman Devon Smith says he is ready for a return to Test cricket after he scored a big hundred in the three-day warm-up match against a South African Invitational.

The fixture, which is now in its final day, is being played at Willowmore Park.

Smith says since his absence from Test cricket he has been showing more maturity at the crease.

Smith was brought into the squad to replace the injured Chris Gayle and seems set to make a comeback after a three-and-half year absence from Test cricket.

He scored 174 yesterday before he retired out as West Indies amassed 508.

Smith featured in a massive third wicket stand of 360 with Marlon Samuels, who made a boundary-studded 203 on a good batting surface.

The first Test begins next Wednesday at Centurion.
