LIVERPOOL (4-2-3-1)

The rivalry between these two teams in red goes deep. While Manchester United are on the up, Liverpool are struggling to find the form that won them a place on this season's Champions League.

In this game last season, Liverpool won 3-0. Steven Gerrard scored two penalties and missed a third, but with a third goal coming from Luis Suarez, Liverpool dominated.

It was the first time Liverpool had won at Old Trafford since March 2009 - when Gerrard converted another penalty in a 4-1 win.

Liverpool beat United twice last season - they also won 1-0 at Anfield with an early goal from Daniel Sturridge - but United were unbeaten in their four previous clashes in the Barclays Premier League.

On Monday, United's impressive recent form continued when Robin van Persie scored twice in a 2-1 win at high-flying Southampton. It was United's fifth win in a row - since they lost to Manchester City in early November - and leaves them eight points behind leaders Chelsea and five behind City.
