WEST HAM (4-1-2-3)

West Ham United travel to the north-east in fourth place in the Barclays Premier League after winning their last three games, against Newcastle United, West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City. Victory over Swansea last Sunday actually took the Hammers into third spot, but Manchester United's win at Southampton on Monday saw the Reds jump above the London club.

If West Ham win at the Stadium of Light, it would represent the club's best sequence of league victories since February. The 27 points they currently have is their best return after 15 games since 2011 when, after the same number of matches, they had 28 points and were in second place, though that was in the second tier (Championship).

It is, however, West Ham's best start to a Premier League campaign and their most points won at this stage of a top-flight campaign since the 1983-84 campaign, when they had 30 points and were second.
